In the February 2009 edition of The USIM Gazette®, the article titled Nearly 6 Million U.S. Households Not Ready For Analog to Digital Conversion, reported that, in January 2009, 5.8 million households were not currently ready for the analog to digital conversion mandated by law and scheduled to be fully implemented on June 12, 2009.
As of the end of March 2009, that number has dropped significantly. According to Nielsen, 1.2% of homes (about 1.4 million) will be unprepared for the analog to digital TV transition on June 12, 2009.
