For example, we successfully negotiated a full episode exclusive sponsorship on ESPN SportsCenter for one of our clients, something the network had never done before. All eight minutes worth of ad time were dedicated to our client and every lead-in back to the program was prefaced with “This SportsCenter is brought to you exclusively by…”, plus the client’s tagline. Our strategy was to target a key date during NCAA basketball March Madness due to the anticipated increased post-game viewership. The client’s creative agency developed a mix of varying commercial lengths consisting of both special offers and general product branding.

The sponsorship was a tremendous success. Not only was the chosen episode of SportsCenter the highest rated that week, but viewer retention during the commercial breaks was an astounding 99 percent! ESPN and the client received numerous phone calls and emails with very positive feedback. Most importantly, in-store traffic and product sales experienced a spike that weekend.
